A greener Herning

Herning Municipality is one of the largest municipalities in Denmark measured by area. In the future, the municipality must also be among the largest in terms of flora and fauna.

I want to work to bring nature closer and into the cities by increasing the number of green areas, planting trees along the roadside, and converting grass areas into wild meadow.

We must have more biodiversity in our parks and green areas, more trees along the roadside, and a strong climate council that can guide us in the right direction and give children and young people a voice in the climate debate.

I want us to follow in the footsteps of the local passionate individuals who, like beacons, show the way!

For example, certain citizens and housing companies in Herning Municipality have shown good examples of how to create more biodiversity.

These committed citizens are helping to create a development that is admirable.

But we still see large grass areas owned by private companies and, unfortunately, also Herning Municipality, where money, time, and effort are still being spent on ensuring “nice lawns.”

Nature and the environment are important to ensure the future for our children and young people.

It is their future, so let’s celebrate them and plant a tree for every child born in the municipality.

But they should not only be celebrated; they should also be heard, for example, by giving student councils and young environmental representatives a direct voice to the city council and municipality.

All in all, Herning Municipality must be Denmark’s wildest municipality – the journey has begun, and now we must reach our goal!
